Crimebumps is a true crime YouTube channel I built entirely from the ground up—concept to execution. I created a brand that blends the eerie storytelling of Goosebumps with the chilling realism of modern true crime, designed to evoke both nostalgia and unease.

Process & Execution
I developed the concept, name, and niche after studying content gaps and creator patterns across the true crime genre. From there, I designed a distinctive visual identity and logo that immediately set the tone for the channel’s dark, cinematic style. I research and write every long-form and short-form video script, using a mix of investigative accuracy and atmospheric storytelling inspired by creators like Nick Crowley and Lazy Masquerade.

Each video is fully produced by me—from high-quality editing and pacing optimization to implementing hyper-realistic AI voiceovers using ElevenLabs to maintain a consistent, professional sound. Every upload is fine-tuned for viewer retention and algorithmic performance, with several videos reaching tens of thousands of views.

Community Growth
To build an engaged ecosystem around the channel, I created Eerie Case Files, a dedicated subreddit that functions as both a fan hub and an organic discovery tool. I designed the subreddit’s artwork and interface, wrote original case summaries designed for virality, and grew the community from zero to 200+ monthly active users within months—all without paid promotion.

Results

  • Fully self-produced YouTube channel with growing audience and high retention metrics
  • Unique cross-platform storytelling brand blending YouTube and Reddit
  • 200+ active community members within first few months of launch
  • Several videos achieving tens of thousands of views organically
