Creating a curated social media brand based around aesthetics, consistency, and utility.
Marketing Consulting Brand Identity Social Media
Colors from culture, posted daily.
color of the day (@color_otd) is a curated Twitter account I created in 2016 as a personal form of creative expression and social media consulting project. The concept has remained the same since the very first post. Every day, an image is posted of an artist and a color swatch pulled from the image captioned with the following format:
“color of the day: #hexcode
Same format, posted once per day. The end result is a curated Twitter account that is aesthetically pleasing on people’s feeds, serves as a tool for designers and artists in need of inspiration, and offers a platform for featuring great artists.
As of May 2018, color of the day has amassed 7,000+ followers organically. Without using superficial techniques common in social media consulting projects, such as following then unfollowing random accounts en masse, I was able to create a unique brand from scratch.
Each post averages an engagement ratio of 10.2% and has grown popular among designers, creative individuals, and artists alike. With a following of top-tier artists like Mac Miller, Chance the Rapper, Cole Bennett, Mr. Carmack, Mick Jenkins, FKJ, Com Truise, Lucki Ecks, and Oshi, color of the day has carved a unique niche.
